Why We're Moving to DaVinci Resolve

Why We're Moving to DaVinci Resolve

After two decades in professional video editing, our journey has taken us through the entire spectrum of industry-standard editing software. When we first opened our doors, Adobe Premiere Pro was our steadfast companion, serving us well through countless client projects and technological shifts. In 2017, we made what felt like a revolutionary move to Final Cut Pro, and it transformed our workflow in ways we couldn't have imagined. But as we step into 2025, we're embarking on another significant transition – this time to DaVinci Resolve.

The journey through professional editing solutions

Our relationship with Premiere Pro spanned nearly 15 years, and we witnessed its evolution from a simple editing tool to a comprehensive post-production powerhouse. The familiar Adobe ecosystem, with its seamless integration between After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition, gave us a robust framework for delivering high-quality content. However, as our team expanded and projects became more demanding, we began experiencing performance issues that affected our delivery timelines.

The Switch to Final Cut Pro in 2017 was transformative. The software's magnetic timeline revolutionized our editing approach, and its optimization for Apple Silicon brought unprecedented speed to our workflows. The program's stability meant fewer crashes during complex projects, and its background rendering capabilities allowed us to maintain momentum during intensive editing sessions. We still hold deep appreciation for Final Cut Pro's innovative approach to media management and its elegant user interface.

Why Resolve? The market has spoken

As a white-label video editing service provider, our success depends on our ability to adapt to our clients' needs. Over the past year, we've observed a clear trend: approximately 90% of our clients either already use DaVinci Resolve or express strong interest in transitioning to it. This shift isn't merely about following market trends – it reflects fundamental changes in the industry's approach to post-production.

Looking forward while honoring the past

This transition isn't about abandoning our experience with Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro – it's about evolving with the industry. Each platform has contributed to our growth and understanding of post-production workflows. The methodical organization we learned from Premiere Pro, the efficient timeline management from Final Cut Pro – these skills enhance our ability to leverage Resolve's comprehensive toolset.

The decision to switch primarily to Resolve wasn't made lightly. We've spent months testing workflows, training our team, and ensuring we can maintain our high standards during the transition. The software's robust collaboration features, combined with its integrated Fusion and Fairlight pages, provide us with a complete post-production solution that meets our clients' expanding needs.

Investment in the future

By standardizing on Resolve, we're investing in our ability to serve clients more effectively. The software's rapid development cycle, responsive support community, and Blackmagic Design's commitment to technological innovation give us confidence in this direction. While we'll maintain our Final Cut Pro capabilities for specific projects, Resolve will become our primary platform for delivering the exceptional content our clients expect.

This evolution in our workflow reflects broader changes in the post-production landscape. As we continue growing and adapting, we remain committed to the core principles that have guided us for two decades: technical excellence, client satisfaction, and the pursuit of innovative solutions in video post-production.
