Beyond editing
Strategic video producing: When editing alone isn't enough.
Great editing can't fix poorly planned production. A Video Maker offers end-to-end oversight — from pre-production through final delivery — solving the costly problems that happen before the footage ever reaches the timeline.
Videographers
Your challenge:
Clients expect both shooting and producing expertise. They want someone who can guide the creative vision, plan shot lists, direct interviews, and ensure every filming decision serves the final story. But production planning and creative direction aren't always a videographer's strength — or interest.
Our solution:
A Video Maker creates the paper edit before filming begins, directs on-set to ensure coverage aligns with the vision, and manages the entire production timeline. Videographers get clear direction, efficient shoot days, and clients who see professional results.
The result:
Elevated service offering without production planning burden
More efficient shoots with clear creative direction
Clients who appreciate the strategic approach
Stronger portfolio work and repeat business
Creative agencies
Your challenge:
Your team excels at strategy and concepting, but production execution often derails the vision. Freelance videographers interpret briefs differently. Shoots capture unnecessary coverage. The footage doesn't quite match the storyboard. And the edit reveals gaps that require expensive reshoots.
Our solution:
A Video Maker works from agency concepts to create detailed paper edits, coordinates with chosen videographers or sources local Eugene talent, directs on-set to capture exactly what the edit needs, and ensures the final product matches the strategic brief. Agency oversight without agency bandwidth.
The result:
Productions that stay on strategy and on budget
No surprises in post-production
Reliable partner who speaks both creative and production languages
Client deliverables that match the pitch decks
Brands & businesses
Your challenge:
Businesses know they need video but lack internal expertise to plan effective productions. Videographers provide quotes with unclear scope. Shoots capture hours of footage that mostly goes unused. The final edit doesn't quite convey the intended message. And the budget was spent inefficiently on coverage that never made the cut.
Our solution:
A Video Maker develops the creative concept, creates a paper edit showing exactly what will be captured, coordinates professional Eugene videographers, directs on-set to draw out authentic responses from interview subjects, and ensures every production dollar appears on screen.
The result:
Clear vision before cameras roll
Efficient budget allocation (no wasted shooting)
Authentic, compelling interview content
Professional production value with transparent process

A Video Maker has 15 years of editing experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, 10 years with Davinci Resolve, and 6 years with Final Cut Pro.
-
Project files are not delivered by default as it takes additional time and effort to prepare for client delivery.
With that said, you may request project files and we’ll incorporate that into our quote. Just note that it will exclude any third-party plugins, and may not be a 100% match.
-
A Video Maker does not outsource or hire freelancers. You work directly with your editor, D.L. Watson — based in Eugene, Oregon.
-
Yes. A Video Maker can help with any phase of the post-production process. Whether it’s the entire process, culling selects, syncing, assemblies, rough drafts — it can be done.
-
Clients can choose from two pricing options.
Project Based — You book a call to discuss your vision and get an instant quote on turnaround. Each quoted day is what you pay for. If it takes us longer than we anticipated, than no additional fees. That’s our flat-rate guarantee.
Subscription — This option is designed to give you on-going editing support at a much more affordable price than if buying individually while providing the opportunity for us to build long-term partnership with you. You can save as much as an additional 15% for commitment plans.
-
We’re open Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm Pacific. We’re closed all US Federal Holidays.
During the final week of the year, and the first week of the new year, we take a company-wide break.
Any other closure will be notified at least two weeks in advance.
-
No. We accept any amount of raw footage as it’s accounted for in our quote.
-
Absolutely. Just be sure to say as much when we discuss the scope of the project.
-
It depends on the amount of raw footage, desired length, number of videos, and your budget.
With that said, on average, it takes about 1 quoted day to produce ~2 minutes of finished video.
Complex projects with motion graphics, visual effects, or sound design will take longer.
-
Big scoped projects are broken down into milestone/phases. This applied to short and full-length documentaries and films.
You should expect to receive a reasonable amount of work each week until the project is delivered.
-
If you’re first starting out, it all starts with a call and we get your vision and your creative preferences.
Then you gain access to your own client portal where you can collaborate, track, and review the project.
When you’re ready to start a new project, you just book another call or fill out the intake form in the client portal.
-
For Project Based, you get two rounds of revisions. After, we’re happy to continue revising for $220 per day to complete revisions.
For subscription plans, we keep revising until the video is 100% to your satisfaction.
-
Due to the quality and time it takes to edit a video, even to a first draft stage, there are no refunds issued. Pride is taken that no client has ever asked for a refund in the 5 years we’ve offered our video editing services.
